We set off on what was going to be a long train journey, but it turned out to be surprisingly smooth. The journey was made even more enjoyable by the beautiful waterbodies we passed through in Kerala and Karnataka, along with our toddler happily immersed in her books—except for the occasional “Namma enga porom?” (“Where are we going?”), which she must have asked at least a hundred times! It has been a year since Trek Tamil Nadu started its guided treks. I still remember last Deepavali, when Vinod and I were at Kalikesam to escape the noise of crackers, we saw the guides getting ready to welcome trekkers who had booked their slots online.
